2018 STEM Symposium Culminates Impressive Year of Scientific Study

The 2018 Indian Creek STEM Program Symposium brought together the Upper School’s finest science-minded students to showcase their work to each other and their families. On Thursday, April 26, current STEM Program Students, as well as students from the Class of 2022 who have been admitted to the STEM Program to begin next year, gathered in the Grindrod Atrium to present their work from the year, and answer questions. SAGE Dining provided refreshments for families and faculty who came to view the projects.

To culminate the event, the senior STEM program members presented their STEM Thesis Projects and answered audience questions in the Jack and Nancy Becker Center for Performing Arts. This year’s senior STEM Thesis Projects covered a wide variety of scientific studies.

Evan Rakshys (University of Miami):
“Medical Benefits of 3D Printing and Modeling”

Gabby Walls (Rochester Institute of Technology or Hampshire College):
“Water Quality in the Severn River over a 12-month period”

Tory Walworth (Bucknell University or Trinity College):
“Bioremediation using Stropharia rugosannulata (wine cap stropharia) to remove E. coli from soil”
