In Lower School, students are introduced to performing arts first through their Music and Movement class. This class introduces students to world music, composers, and orchestral instruments, which are used during their grade-level performances during the winter term. Beginning in first grade, drama class joins the program to give students another outlet for self-expression. Instrumental instruction begins as an option in third grade, and all fourth and fifth-grade students learn to play an instrument.
In Middle School, Creekers can participate in chorus, instrumental groups, and dance team, in addition to their studio art and music courses. Students in the Middle School can also participate in the Middle School Musical either as an actor on stage or behind the scenes working on sound, lighting, costuming, and set building.
In the Upper School, students can take courses like Art Foundations, 2D Studio Art (I-III), Ceramics and Sculpture (I-III), AP Art History, Solo Choir, Music Theory, Recital Class, and Acting and Shakespeare. Students can also participate join the Indian Creek Dance team, where beginners can join the troupe which performs in recitals, at basketball games, and in other venues, and more experienced dancers compete in regional competitions. The Upper School fall play and Upper School spring musical combined with a plethora of concerts, recitals, competitions, and arts nights help to create a culture of deep appreciation for the arts.
