Sixth and Seventh Grade Students and Faculty Honor Bell Ringing Ceremony as they Move to Upper School

The clear, crisp, sound of the historic bell, occassionally drowned out by the excited cheers of students and faculty, filled the air on the morning of Friday, June 9, as the Indian Creek School (ICS) Classes of 2026 and 2025 participated in the traditional Bell Ringing Ceremony. This ICS tradition has marked the passage of eighth grade students from the Evergreen Campus to Upper School for years. With the move of seventh and eighth grades to the Crownsville Campus in the 2017-18 school year, the sixth and seventh grade students and faculty members were excited to have their opportunity to ring the bell on the last day of the school year. Middle School Head Bruce Crossman announced each student’s name (in reverse alphabetical order, of course!) as the children stepped up to ring the bell. After the students each had their turn, the faculty who are moving to the Crownsville Campus took their turn as well, as the students cheered them on! Finally, Mr. Crossman himself rung the bell and the students and faculty boarded school buses and travelled to the Crownsville Campus for a morning of activities to get to know their new space. At the Upper School, the students were greeted by their ceiling tiles already hung in the Loft area. A morning of fun was had by all as the students excitedly explored their new space.
