Indian Creek Librarian Ashley Fetterolf Shares Innovative Professional Development Strategy at AIMS Technology Conference

Ms. Fetterolf’s presentation, entitled “Expanding Your Resource Toolbox: PD for Teachers by Librarians,” shared her success in leading a blended learning (BLInc) professional development course for Indian Creek faculty this year, and discussed ways in which other librarians might leverage their schools’ learning management systems to deliver in-house professional development to their own faculty. “As leaders in the school community, providing professional development opportunities is one of the responsibilities of a school librarian. However, every librarian knows how difficult it can be to get faculty members together for any meaningful PD time,” shared Ms. Fetterolf. Her blended course transformed the typical professional development structure and enabled the Indian Creek faculty to receive the resources that she had to offer without the constraints of space and time. Faculty from all grade levels, from both campuses, and in all disciplines all benefitted from the instruction that Ms. Fetterolf had to offer. Her course reached maximum capacity on it’s first day of sign-ups, and ICS faculty are eager to see what she offers next.
