2021-22: Learning Together

ICS Community Pledge

Indian Creek School Community Pledge

Learning together as a school community is vital to the mission of Indian Creek School. Unfortunately, the COVID-19 global pandemic poses real risks that require each of us to observe heightened health and safety precautions. Indian Creek School has implemented health and safety protocols, policies and procedures designed to reduce the spread of COVID-19. As members of the Indian Creek School community, we are interconnected; each of has an individual responsibility to protect our collective well-being. This pledge provides an overview of health and safety expectations. It also provides the Indian Creek community with the assurance that every member of the community has acknowledged their understanding of and commitment to our health and safety standards. All members of the ICS community who wish to come to campus must sign this pledge. Those who do not sign the pledge, or who do not comply with these policies and procedures, will not be permitted on campus.

Family Pledge

In signing this pledge, I/we agree that members of my household will abide the following measures in order to do our part in preventing the spread of COVID-19:
  •  I/we will complete the daily health screening before coming to campus. At least 1.5 hours before coming to campus, students/faculty are required to complete a symptom check and questionnaire via Magnus, the School’s health monitoring app.
  • I/we will observe the "Three W’s:” wearing a mask, watching my distance, and washing my hands. All individuals must wear a face mask and adhere to the ICS mask protocol while on campus. While on campus, everyone is asked to follow ICS distancing protocols and directional signs so as to maximize the amount of space between individuals. ICS families are asked to limit attendance to gatherings, events, and other activities to those that can maintain physical distancing. Frequent hand-washing and healthy personal hygiene are encouraged for all members of our school community.
  • I/we will stay home when sick or exposed. Indian Creek School families are expected to stay home if any member of their household is exhibiting symptoms of, has been exposed to, or tested positive for COVID-19, until a return to school is recommended on the ICS Exclusion and Return Decision Guide.
  • I/we will initiate contact tracing if we are exposed to COVID or test positive. If any member of your household has been exposed to or tested positive for COVID-19, parents are expected to inform Indian Creek School immediately, follow the recommendations of your doctor, and adhere to Health Department contact tracing guidelines.
  • I/we will notify the School if a member of our household will be late or absent. This year, it is especially important that parents/faculty proactively notify the school in the event of lateness or absence.
  • I/we will follow Indian Creek School health and safety protocols as well as federal, state, and local orders. Indian Creek School families are expected to adhere to the guidelines as described in the ICS Health and Safety protocols, as well as the directives of applicable federal, state, and local government health departments, including the CDC and the Maryland Department of Health regarding measures to reduce the spread of COVID-19.
  • I/we will hold myself and my peers accountable for upholding this pledge.  The safety and success of the ICS community depends on each of us adhering to these Health and Safety guidelines. As each of us learns and adopts these new habits and guidelines, mistakes will be made.  We must support each other and forge a united front in our commitment to learning together.
  • I/we vow to be honest in the assessment and reporting of my family’s health symptoms. Transparent and forthright communication is imperative to establishing a community of trust where the health and safety of all relies on the integrity of every member.

Pledge for Young Students

It is important that we educate all students of the important role they have in keeping the Indian Creek School community safe.  The following statements will be shared with students through their classroom teachers, counselors, and advisors.  Parents are invited to review this pledge with your child(ren) to engage them in actions they can take to help us all stay healthy and safe.

To keep Indian Creek School students and staff healthy so that we can learn and work, I pledge to:
  •  Tell my parent or teacher if I am not feeling well
  • Stay six feet apart from others, maintaining physical distancing rules
  • Wash my hands thoroughly and use hand sanitizer often
  • Wear a mask at all times while at school unless my teacher says I can take it off.
  • Listen to my parents, teachers, and other adults at school as I know they want to keep everyone safe
