Did you know the answer: Washington State.? The Indian Creek Geo Bee finalists did! On Thursday, January 11, 11 students in grades 6-8 competed for a chance to represent Indian Creek School at the National Geographic Bee, with eighth grader Amareah Bead emerging as ICS Geo Bee Champion.
The National Geographic Bee is an annual geography contest sponsored by the National Geographic Society. The bee, held every year since 1989, is open to students in the fourth through eighth grades in participating schools from the United States. At Indian Creek, students in grades 6-8 hold in-class contests, and each class champion competes in a school bee. Fourth and fifth grade students will participate in in-class competitions this week. This year's grades 6-8 finalists included Julia Argilan '23, Amareah Bead'22, Phillip Derrick '24, Luke Hayes '23, Carter Herrman '22, Wil Mertes '24, Edmond O'Connell '22, Ranee O'Connor '24, Lucas Pardo '24, Luke Schaub '23, and Jamie Woodward '22. After several tie-breaking rounds with seventh grade student Luke Schaub, Amareah won the title. Congratulations Amareah!
