Happy Nowruz 2018! Doanya '28 Shares Deep Thinker Lesson on Persian New Year

Happy Nowruz 2018! Indian Creek second grade students were treated to a lesson on Persian New Year, on Tuesday, March 20, as Doanya '28 shared a "Deep Thinker" project on this cultural celebration. Nowruz, which means “new day” in Persian, has been celebrated for more than 3,000 years, and traditionally begins the very moment that the sun crosses the equator on the vernal equinox. Nowruz ushers in a celebratory period of two weeks, in which families clean their homes, visit relatives, and share festive meals and gifts. During her presentation, which is an optional way for students to share their knowledge with classmates, Doanya introduced her fellow second grade students to the Persian language and shared customs from this holiday. Great job Doanya!
