Gratitude

The Indian Creek community has much to be thankful for this holiday season. This week has seen exciting and engaging academic endeavors such as Upper School STEM presentations, first grade Egyptian Studies, fourth grade Medieval Independent Learning projects, and more! Field trips to the Annapolis courthouse and the Patuxent Native American Village have enriched our students’ experience, as have fun Punkin’ Chunkin’ celebration at Lower School and the traditional Silent Speedball tournament in Grades 7-8. Last week, we introduced great numbers of families new to our school at Lower and Upper School Open Houses. The Upper School cast of “The Heidi Chronicles” astounded audiences with their poignant and mature performances. This morning, we celebrated a successful fall athletics season and honored outstanding athletes at an awards assembly. Yesterday, our amazing parents honored the dedication of our faculty and staff with warm, delicious Appreciation Luncheons. And this week, Indian Creek students served lunches at The Light House of Annapolis, performed at a local nursing home, donated batteries to help Puerto Rico, and are eagerly approaching our holiday sharing drive. And today, Upper School students are holding a “Mix it Up Day” to encourage themselves to reach out and make a new friend.

All of these pieces make up the vibrant community that we are lucky to belong to at Indian Creek School. We have so much to be grateful for this year. As Head of School Rick Branson shared, “I am so grateful for our students as well-rounded and happy academic-athletic-artistic scholars. I am grateful for our parents as role models and cheerleaders. And I am grateful for our faculty as teachers, mentors, and coaches. Most of all, I am thankful that, together, we all make up the extraordinary community that is Indian Creek School.”

This week, Indian Creek faculty members took a moment to share with us some of the things for which they are grateful this season. Most of all, we are grateful to your, our families, for being a part of the Indian Creek Community.
