Indian Creek Honored by Anne Arundel County Food Bank

On September 18, Indian Creek School was honored by the Anne Arundel County Food Bank for our successful Holiday Food Drive in December 2016. Three of our seventh and eighth grade Student Government Association officers, President Rebecca Streidel, and Vice Presidents for Service Addy Mock and Nate Krall traveled to the Food Bank in Annapolis, Maryland, to accept the award on the School’s behalf.

George Arlotto, Superintendent of Anne Arundel Public Schools thanked every school for working in partnership with the Food Bank to collect over 175,000 pounds of food which were distributed to Anne Arundel County residents in need. Mr. Arlotto proclaimed that Anne Arundel County Schools—public private, and parochial—all working together is a winning combination! School-aged children are responsible for donating 70% of the food that the Anne Arundel County Food Bank collects and distributes to the needy each year.

Mr. Arlotto recognized Indian Creek “for creating real, positive change in the lives of so many area residents by donating nearly 6,000 pounds of food, soaps, shampoos, toothpastes, and more.”

Congratulations for this outpouring of community support! Indian Creek School (ICS) would like to thank our community for generously donating items last school year and for volunteering to check expiration dates, sort the food, and deliver it. ICS would also like to offer a special thanks to last year’s Student Government leaders for challenging every other student to think about how they can make a difference through commitment and action. We hope to exceed last year’s results this December.
