Alumni Career Panel Keeps Creek Connections Strong
Indian Creek Upper School students and faculty got to see what “once a Creeker, always a Creeker” looks like in action during an Alumni Career Panel, hosted by the ICS Alumni office. During the panel, Associate Director of Advancement Whit Willocks welcomed six alumni and invited them to speak to students about their careers and the varying paths they each took to get where they are today.
Panelists included:
Ryan Brassel '00, Principal at Rosso Commercial Real Estate Services
Brennan Davis '14, Benefits Advisor at GEHA
Rose Lieberman '13, Senior Manager, Clinical Research at Supernus Pharmaceuticals, Inc.
Siena Roccograndi '10, Accessories Designer II at Under Armour
Alonzo Strickland '18, Rehab Technician at Johns Hopkins
Keion Ulmer '14, Staff Accountant at The Carlyle Group
Events that bring alumni back to campus are always a highlight for faculty and staff members who take great pride in the accomplishments of their former students. A particularly heartening part of the morning was hearing the alumni answers to the question, “What are the skills you need to be successful in your job?” Despite the wide range of careers held by the alums, their answers overlapped in many ways. Consistent answers included communication, patience, creativity, organization, resourcefulness, flexibility, understanding, relationship management, and collaboration. Faculty and students were struck by the affirmed importance of these traits that are lauded, taught, and practiced every day at ICS.
Following the panel, the alumni shared their contact information with students and invited them to reach out if they can be helpful as the students embark on their own lives beyond ICS. Thank you to our alumni career panel for keeping those Creek connections strong!
