Julia Leavit '23 Nominated for The Young Saturday 'Visiter' Awards" by Poe Baltimore and the Baltimore National Heritage Area

Congratulations to ICS senior Julia Leavitt, who has been named an official nominee for The Young Saturday 'Visiter' Awards, sponsored by Poe Baltimore and the Baltimore National Heritage Area. ("Visiter" is the sponsor's Poe-era spelling for the awards.) Inspired by Poe’s life and works, high school students from around the state of Maryland have submitted projects in media, art, performance or writing. Julia's artwork, "The Eye of the Fine Dog," is one of four submissions nominated for an award in the category of original works inspired by Poe. Her painting captures the watchful and wary eye of "the fine dog" in Poe’s short story "The Black Cat." The awards ceremony will take place later this month at Westminster Hall and Burying Ground. Way to go, Julia!
