The ICS Track and Field Team held its first meet of the season on Sunday, March 27, with a successful morning at Kent Island High School. The Eagles hosted Concordia Prep, St. Johns Catholic, and St. Vincent Pallotti for an invigorating morning of events.
Both the boys and girls teams both placed 4th overall, with Eagles runners placing in many events. For the boys, junior Kermit Smith placed 3rd, in the Boys 100 Dash, while senior Amara Ukeje took 9th, sophomore Jacob Stone placed 15th, and junior Julian Espeut placed 17th out of a lofty field of runners.
In the Girls 100 Dash, sophomore Skyla Houde placed 8th, junior Elena Tator 12th, and ninth grader Kat Rini came in 13th.
In the Boys 200 Dash, Smith placed 4th, with sophomores Frederick McCuiston and Stone coming in 5th and 12th, respectively. The Boys 400 Dash saw McCuiston place 5th, with Eamon Ensor '25, Sam Favazza '25, and Collin O’Neill '23 taking 9th, 10th, and 11th.
The girls had a great showing in the 400 Dash, with junior Margot Ramsey placing 6th, Houde taking 7th, Tator 8th, and Rini 11th.
The Eagles did well on the longer track as well, with Ensor and Favazza taking 6th and 7th in the Boys 800:
senior Aidin MacKenzie set a high bar in the Boys Discus Throw, placing 7th overall. He and Ukeje shone in the Boys Shot Put, with Ukeje taking 5th and MacKenzie 6th.
The Long Jump saw many Eagle successes with Houde and Ramsey taking 4th and 5th for the girls and Smith grabbing 6th, Ukeje 8th, McCuiston 11th, Ensor 13th, O'Neill 15th, and Espeut 16th on the boys side.
