Once upon a STEAM Day,
ICS Lower School students rose to a series of challenges presented through a storybook-themed celebration of Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Math. On Friday, March 11, first through fifth grade students held a STEAM day, full of hands-on fun.
Students in Grades 1 through 5 spent the afternoon working on STEAM challenges centered around favorite childrens' stories. First through third grade students designed and built beds for goldilocks that were just right
, created houses for the fourth little pig, devised alternative methods for Rapunzel to escape her tower, coded “old lady who swallowed a fly” ozobots, and hand-crafted Encanto
Meanwhile, fourth and fifth grade students had an EGG-CELLENT time at Indian Creek's first annual Humpty Dumpty Egg Drop Challenge. Student teams built custom egg-landers from pre-packaged supply kits, then tested them by dropping their eggs from a series of increasing heights. Congrats to our winning teams: Lucy & Kiva '30 and Lylah & Josh '29, who both survived a 12-ft drop!
