Mu Alpha Theta Math Honor Society Inducts New Members

Seven Upper School students earned some new letters on Wednesday, November 10, as they were inducted into the Indian Creek School Chapter of the Mu Alpha Theta Math Honor Society.

Mu Alpha Theta, (or MATh, μαθ, ΜΑΘ, MAÞ, or maþ), is a society of students with a high aptitude for mathematics, who demonstrate great passion for helping others. Member of ΜΑΘ offer math help for their peers in Pre-K through grade 12.  Candidates are selected entirely by current student members of the society, and not by teachers. Reviewers only see profiles and written statements, and do not know the names of the applicants. Advisor Mr. Glenn Klakring shares that many students choose to join the society because have struggled at times with math, and they feel those experiences can make them better teachers.  "I was proud to see many members last year give help via Teams on a regular basis. Tutoring virtually is super challenging, but our members pulled through."

Congratulations to this year's ΜΑΘ inductees: Jenna Bellet '22, Dylan Cox '22, Sarah Martin '22, Campbell McCormick '24, Addy Mock '22, Cal Morris-Berlin '22, Elena Tator '23
