Kindergarten Studies Physics, Art, the Renaissance, and all things "Leonardo"

Kindergarten took a deep-dive into their "pushes and pulls" unit this fall, learning all about the physics of simple machines.  As part of their studies, the students learned about the life and accomplishments of painter, engineer, scientist, theorist, sculptor and architect, Leonardo da Vinci. The students discovered that he is representative of a true "renaissance" polymath. The class has taken this knowledge and is planning a miniature Renaissance Festival later in the year.  Moved by the students' interest in Leonardo, ICS senior Rian Culley stopped by Kindergarten to read the children a story about another Leonardo - "Leonardo the Terrible Monster" by Mo Willems. The class plans to continue their "Leonardo" studies by learning about Italian mathematician Leonardo Pisano Fibonacci next.
