Senior Spotlight: Melody Kinzer
Those who know Melody Kinzer say she exemplifies what it means to be a student at Indian Creek. “Melody is committed to excellence in all that she does,” shares Mrs. Anne Engles. “She is reliable, polite, friendly. She knows what it is to be a Creeker: get involved, be kind, make the world a better place.”
A Creeker since fourth grade, Melody has been actively involved in an array of pursuits over the years. She is a member of the National Honor Society and the Tri-M Music Honor Society, and has been President of the Spanish Honor Society for the past two years. She has volunteered extensively with Key Club and enjoys helping those in need in her church as well. As co-editor of the yearbook, Kinzer has played a significant role in documenting this school year for the school community.
She also has been involved in theater and dance at Indian Creek, performing in multiple shows and always leading by example. “Melody is an incredible leader in the show this year and in the past,” shares Mrs. Jill Woodward. “She always knows the dances 100%. She is a positive force in all work and is willing to reach out to those who need help. She acts as a mentor.”
Kinzer has most enjoyed her science classes at Indian Creek and is excited to study science and sports science on a pre-med track next year at the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill. The qualities her teachers see in her—involvement, engagement, kindness and helpfulness—are a reflection of what she has found in Indian Creek.
“I feel like Indian Creek is a very welcoming community from all sides, whether it’s the teachers, the students, other faculty and parents. You can really tell that the school’s number-one focus is helping the students and making them get the best out of their experience.”
