Senior Spotlight: Leah Corckran
At lunch time on a recent sunny school day, Leah Corckran was overflowing with positive energy while dancing on David’s Court and casually answering questions about her many accomplishments as an ICS student. A member of the STEM program, Leah plans to major in biochemistry at Smith College. But she’s equally proud of her interest in the humanities.
“I’m in the STEM program at Indian Creek, but I really like my history classes, and I’m the resident Shakespeare nerd,” said Corckran.
Her interest in theater led to working on costumes and performing in multiple school productions over the years, and she was also a Cappies critic. She’s on the spirit squad that organized pep rallies throughout her high school years, and academically she’s a member of the National Honor Society, Spanish Honor Society and Math Honor Society while also serving as a math tutor. For the past five years, she has practiced and performed as a figure skater with Annapolis Skating Club.
As an ICS “lifer,” Corckran was glad to get back on campus this spring for some quality time with classmates before graduation. “I spent 14 years at Indian Creek, so it’s really nice being back on campus, and it feels like I’m actually a senior.”
