Senior Spotlight: Emma Kornmeyer

Emma Kornmeyer has embraced many leadership roles during her years at Indian Creek, including the all-important duties of stage manager for the theater productions and editor of the yearbook.  “The position of Overlord (aka stage manager) has helped me gain confidence and communication skills, as well as leadership opportunities, and just a really fun family to be a part of!" she shares. "It is why I chose to study stage management at Shenandoah University's Conservatory in the Fall.

Emma has also really enjoyed working on the yearbook staff because it has given her opportunities to connect with people on both campuses, and the chance to represent ICS. She has done all this while also excelling as a student with a variety of academic interests.

“My favorite classes have been freshman year literature with Mrs. Engles, Environmental Science with Mr. Roth, Bio and AP Bio with Mrs. Roth, AP Lang with Mr. Monack, and my Psychology independent study with Ms. Lang. All of these have been super fun and engaging classes where I am pushed to challenge myself and find things I am interested in!”

Her favorite aspect of Indian Creek is one common to so many students, families and faculty members: The opportunities for connection. “With events like CREEKfest that include both campuses especially, I really enjoy getting to connect with so many different people in our school community! The faculty is also a super big part of why I love the school. They are so supportive of their students and all the different situations that come with being in high school. They want you to be your absolute best self—in and out of their class!”
