Senior Spotlight: Paige Clark

As someone who has embraced her academic opportunities while actively participating in numerous extracurriculars, Paige Elizabeth Clark has tailored her ICS experience to her passions.

“My favorite classes so far have definitely been AP Lang with Ms. Derry, because it helped me grow as a writer, [and] AP US History with Mrs. Montgomery, because I love government and I think learning about the past is so important to informing our future,” said Clark.

Clark has taken initiative on many fronts since coming to Indian Creek as a freshman. She is the founder and president of EMPOWER, a club that creates space for female-identifying students to discuss women’s issues. Clark is a member of the Gay-Straight Alliance and helped create presentations used for the club’s Day of Silence and Ally Week in support of LGBTQ+ students. She is the manager of the girls varsity lacrosse team and was recognized as the Manager of the Year as a junior, and she is a member of both the National Honor Society and Mu Alpha Theta, the mathematics honor society. A true ambassador for the school, Clark is the student representative for the senior class who works with the admissions office to give tours to prospective families at open houses.

Outside of the Creek, Clark is a lifelong Girl Scout and decorated recipient of multiple community service awards. Clark enjoys playing guitar and traveling, and she said the school trip to Australia, New Zealand and Fiji prior to her junior year was unforgettable. “It was such an incredible experience getting to explore world cultures and immerse myself in beautiful places with my friends from school,” said Clark.

Clark believes the supportive, inclusive and compassionate nature of the students and teachers at Indian Creek have made it the perfect environment for her to thrive. “[My favorite aspect of ICS is] the compassion shown by the Indian Creek community,” said Clark. “Teachers and students at Creek try to understand and help when you’re struggling, and our teachers especially are always willing to work with you if you put in the effort. I think in general, I’m just very grateful for the time I’ve spent at Indian Creek, and also for the college counseling office. The entire ICS community has helped me so much in preparing for my next steps in college and life as a whole."

Paige will carry this experience with her next year as she continues her education at the University of California at Berkeley. “Though it’s always hard to leave a place and people you love, I feel ready for what’s to come.”
