Senior Spotlight: Wesley Beann

The Indian Creek community has had the privilege of witnessing senior Wesley Beann evolve from a reserved freshman to a confident senior, ready to take on college and the world. Through his years at ICS, Beann has pursued both passions and responsibilities, playing drums in the band and managing the boys basketball team, all while excelling academically.

Head of Upper School Mr. McCormick, who taught Beann in acting and movement class as a freshman, shared his first impressions of Wesley as a “quiet leader” who embraced challenges. “Wesley was a quiet kid, but he was totally fearless, super mature, and was able to roll with the punches. He could laugh at himself and laugh with everybody else,” McCormick shared. “You can tell his friends respect him. He always self-advocates. He is a quiet leader.”

Wesley's other teachers agree that among his many affable traits, his energy and confidence stand out most.  "Wesley came into high school this reserved, introverted kid, and over the last couple years academically and in his confidence, he has grown,” shared Math teacher Todd Kerr. “He is a great kid. He’s a well-rounded dude who’s engaged in all aspects of school with a really energetic personality. He’s definitely come out of his shell and grown into someone who’s going to be very successful moving forward.”

Kerr’s sentiments echo those of Beann’s mother, Maxine, who noted Wesley’s academic success and who is proud of the all-around person he has become and continues to be. “I’m so very proud of Wesley because he’s such an awesome person,” said Maxine Beann. “He has shown me over and over again how mature, intelligent and serious he is about his life [and] becoming the best person God has created him to be. Wes has been the same person from day one. Unselfish, peaceful and honest. I could not have asked for a better kid.”

As Wesley chooses which college he will attend for the next phase in his life, his ICS family is confident that he will succeed.
