Ma'Kaiya Collins Appointed to Anne Arundel County Youth Advisory Council
Indian Creek junior Ma’Kaiya Collins was selected as a member of County Executive Steuart Pittman’s inaugural Youth Advisory Council for the upcoming term. Kaiya, along with 19 other Anne Arundel County students were selected from 117 applicants, after a series of interviews. As a member of the Youth Advisory Council, Kaiya will have the opportunity to make positive change in Anne Arundel County by attending monthly meetings and holding discussions with County Executive Pittman, and working on a variety of community projects. Kaiya's talents, ideas, and passion will benefit not just Indian Creek students, but the youth of Anne Arundel County as a whole.
In addition to Kaiya's appointment to the Council, four other Indian Creek students were invited to join the newly established Anne Arundel County Youth Corps. Austin Harrison '22, Campbell McCormick '24, Edmond O'Connell '22, and Katie Spencer '21 were selected as Youth Corps members for the upcoming year. These students will regularly engage with Mr. Pittman and attend special events throughout the year in order to share the perspective of younger county residents with county government officials.
Indian Creek School is proud of each of these students, who are dedicated to making a difference in the local community.
