Trustee Debbie Bostick Leads Lesson on The Children's March

The Indian Creek sixth grade students welcomed a special visitor to help prepare them for their reading of the novel The Lions of Little Rock, by Kristin Sims Levine. Indian Creek Trustee (and former Director of Diversity) Ms. Debbie Bostick came to school to lead a lesson on the topic of the Children’s March. Mrs. Bostick spoke to the sixth grade about many of the marches were held during the Civil Rights movement, but her description of the Children’s March captivated the students. The classes couldn't believe that many of them had never heard of this event that made such an impact in U.S. history. They were inspired by how the students who participated in the march were able to make a real difference. Following Mrs. Bostick's conversation, the students viewed a documentary on the subject, and with a debriefed the experience the next day. Thank you to Mrs. Bostick for continuing to share her gifts with Indian Creek.
