Lower School Girls on the Run Team Completes Inspiring Season

Congratulations to Indian Creek's Lower School Girls on the Run (GotR) team for completing a wonderful season! This group, which is part of the national GotR organization created to inspire girls to be joyful, healthy and confident using a fun, experience-based curriculum which creatively integrates running, included 19 girls from Indian Creek's third through fifth grade, and advisors Mrs. Heather DeBuse and Mrs. Kelly Bryant Levitas. In addition to running together after school throughout the spring, the girls also enjoyed working on two community service projects together. The team volunteered at Maryland Therapeutic Riding Center, helping with gardening and sprucing up the barn, and they also made blankets for patients at Johns Hopkins Children's Hospital. During the 2019 season, the team also ran in the Girls on the Run 5K at Druid Hill Park in Baltimore, and the Creek Color Run, where GotR runners placed first, second, and third in their age group.
