Building Authentic Leaders

The Evergreen Institute is a leadership and community engagement program that fosters well-being and personal growth. It focuses on cultivating key leadership skills such as resilience, effective communication, curiosity, and self-awareness. Students develop the capacity to make a meaningful difference and design solutions to real-world problems through a human-centered approach - empowering them to contribute positively to our school and community through service, mentorship, and action.

The Signature Evergreen Experience:

  • Experience: Community awareness and outreach, leadership training, and life coaching.
  • Habits of Mind: Develop curiosity and self-reflection to better understand themselves and others.
  • Skills: Durable skill building including resilience, self-awareness, effective communication, and empathy.
  • Design: Designing innovative solutions that address human-centered issues.
  • Self-Driven: Projects that are guided, but designed and curated independently.

  • Grade 9: Experiential

    Community engagement initiatives offer off-campus opportunities and immersive learning experiences that foster connection, meaning, and discovery through impactful projects.
  • Grade 10: Leadership

    This program focuses on exploring personal leadership styles and growth areas, understanding identity’s impact on leadership and group dynamics, and developing skills through facilitation and leadership training.
  • Grade 11: Reflection & Action

    This initiative involves examining human-centered challenges, applying design thinking to create solutions, and conducting a Community Action Research Project.
  • Grade 12: Mentorship

    Peer mentorship integration with our community partners and cross-divisionally at ICS.

Indian Creek school is a co-educational, college preparatory independent school, located in Crownsville, Maryland.  Students in Pre-K3 through grade 12 receive a vibrant educational experience based on excellent academics steeped in strong student-teacher connections.
