2026 Eagles Athletics Awards Ceremony Honors “Something Special Happening at the Creek”

The 2026 Eagles Athletics Awards Ceremony celebrated a year of dedication, perseverance, and excellence among Creek student athletes. Held on May 21, 2026, the event brought together athletes, coaches, families, and community members to reflect on a remarkable year.

The ceremony opened with a welcome from the Director of Athletics Freddie Newman, who shared that out of Indian Creek’s 22 JV & Varsity teams, 17 of them made the playoff quarter or semifinals. This recognition was followed by a poignant speech by SGA Vice President for Athletics Andrew Kokoski ’26. Andrew shared that “There’s something special happening at the Creek and we are lucky to be part of it.” Andrew also honored Athletic Director Freddie Newman for being named MIAA AD of the Year.

The event then moved on to honor individual and team accomplishments. Varsity Swim Coach Kelly Boring was honored for being named MIAA Coach of the Year.  Senior Kyle Harvin was honored for setting new school-wide and program-wide scoring records in basketball.

A new award, Supporter of the Year” was presented and named for former Upper School Head and current faculty member Gerry Connolly, who is a constant presence on the sidelines for every team, and who keeps the Creek community informed of athletic accomplishments. The auditorium erupted into a standing ovation as Ms. Newman presented this award.

The ceremony concluded with reflections on the importance of community, gratitude for the support of coaches, faculty, families, and staff, and a celebration of the shared commitment that allows Creek student-athletes to thrive.
