On Thursday, June 4, the Indian Creek School fifth grade class gathered with faculty, friends, and family to celebrate a meaningful milestone as they promoted from Lower to Middle School.
Music filled the day, as the celebration began in the Grindrod Atrium with performances by the Lower School String Ensemble and the 5th Grade Band. The ceremony officially opened with a rendition of the national anthem by the 5th Grade Chorus. Head of School Booth Kyle then welcomed families, faculty, and students, reflecting on the class's journey and the exciting opportunities that await them in Middle School.
The 5th Grade Chorus then performed Green and Gold, Brave and Bold, an original song with music composed by music teacher AJ Jones ’17, and lyrics written by the Class of 2033! This piece was the perfect way to commemorate their time at Creek and look forward to the chapter ahead:
Green and Gold, Brave and Bold
Because we go to Indian Creek.
We feel we’ve learned a ton of knowledge
Now we think we’re ready for college.
Through our progress, we’ve found success
We gave our learning all our very best.
Let’s celebrate, loud as can be
For our awesome 5th grade family.
We finished 5th grade, we have reached our goal
It’s time for an upgrade, let’s rock and roll.
Students look up to us, brave and bold
We are leaders with hearts of gold.
I hope our next chapter’s full of laughter
With friendships strong that last for a long time after.
We don’t wanna start a big commotion
But this is our fifth‑grade promotion!
Creek is the best, we say with pride
We had to pass the test before we stride.
We were always readers, that was our rule
But now we are the leaders of lower school.
First we learned to walk in a line
But now it is our time to shine.
You might be feeling every emotion
Now that this is our 5th grade promotion.
We are the Creekers, standing strong
If you think we can’t we will prove you wrong.
We lead the way in green and gold
United, fearless, brave and bold.
We hope our next chapter brings laughter bright
As we step forward with all our might.
We are the Eagles, brave and true
There is no limit to what we will do.
Associate Head of School and Lower School Principal Jen Malachowski shared heartfelt remarks about the Class of 2033, celebrating their growth, accomplishments, and the strong foundation they have built during their Lower School years. Fifth grade teachers Christina Monteleone and Lisa Teeling followed with fond reflections on the memories they have shared with the class, from engaging mini PBLs and field trips to musicals and fun classroom moments.
The Class of 2033 then participated in the traditional Indian Creek School bell ringing ceremony to mark their promotion from Lower to Middle School. This tradition will continue as they move from Middle to Upper School, and then again as they graduate.
Congratulations to the Class of 2033 as they begin their next chapter!
