Student Spotlight: Violet Vannoy '26

The program offered a unique blend of academic rigor and experiential learning. “I had a lot of specific classes for the program, like ethics and leadership,” Violet explained. Her schedule included English and math, but the real excitement came from electives tailored to her interests. One standout was African Studies, where Violet explored the continent through her camera. “I did Africa Through the Lens, so it was a photography class,” she said. The course combined history and art, culminating in a final portfolio that captured the essence of her experience.

Beyond academics, Violet embraced entrepreneurial leadership—a class that pushed her to think innovatively. “We got to design a board game, a company, and even a game based on values,” she shared. The school’s emphasis on entrepreneurship was deeply ingrained, encouraging students to align projects with core principles like honesty, integrity, and creativity. For Violet, this hands-on approach was both challenging and rewarding, offering a glimpse into how values shape systems and ideas.

Violet’s semester in South Africa wasn’t just an academic experience—it was a journey of growth, leadership, and discovery.

At ICS, Violet has played varsity volleyball and is a member of the swim team, as well as co-President of the EMPOWER club. She praises Mr. Robinson and Ms. Roth for their help academically and making her amazing adventure happen. Violet plans to study psychology when she attends Colby-Sawyer College in the fall.
