Parker Booth '19 Named 2018 Capital Gazette Outstanding Student Achiever
The Capital Gazette announced their 2018 Outstanding Student Achievers this week. This esteemed list includes Indian Creek juniors Parker Booth, Maddy Evans, and Liam Lonergan. While the Awards Ceremony had to be postponed until April due to inclement weather, the Capital featured these students in this week's edition. Congratulations to Parker, Maddy, and Liam on this achievement!
Parker Booth
Parker Booth is a student who seems to do everything. She balances academics, athletics and community service in a way that few students can.
Academically, Parker maintains a 4.08 GPA while taking AP United States History, AP Biology, AP Language and Composition and Spanish V. She is in the STEM program, and is focusing on the effect of varying levels of acidity on oyster shells.
Parker is a member of the National Honor Society and the Sociedad Honoraria Hispanicá. She is also an Admission Ambassador, giving tours to prospective families and serving as a featured speaker at open houses.
Parker is a three-sport athlete, playing varsity field hockey, varsity lacrosse, and varsity basketball. She played a key role in the basketball championship last year.
Parker recently became the founder and president of the Key Club, a national student-led service program, at Indian Creek School. She has organized and is leading a trip of over 20 students to Puerto Rico over spring break. Parker and her organization will provide relief by delivering supplies, rebuilding the community by removing debris, and working with local students in the classroom. Parker is also the organizer and facilitator for Building Girls’ Empowerment (BGE), an event for middle school girls that is centered on building confidence, self-esteem and worth.
