Scholarship. Leadership. Service. Character.: 28 New Members Inducted to National Honor Society
Indian Creek School (ICS) ninth through twelfth grade students and parents gathered for an Upper School assembly on Thursday, January 25, to induct 28 new members to the ICS chapter of the National Honor Society (NHS). "What a great day," shared Upper School Head Gerry Connolly. "This large group of esteemed inductees says a lot about our junior and senior classes."
NHS advisors Chuck Goetz and Andrew Colley agreed, as they addressed the audience about the four tenants of the National Honor Society, which was founded in 1921. Scholarship is the first attribute, or as Mr. Goetz shared, it's the "initial bar" of the group, necessary, but not sufficient. Eleventh and twelfth grade students may apply to join the NHS if they meet the 3.5 GPA minimum. However, the ICS chapter considers a student's record, service hours, and general character when determining membership. Leadership, Service, and Character are equal - if not weightier - qualities of Indian Creek National Honor Society members.
The 28 new members were inducted by senior NHS officers President Albany Bloor, Vice President Stephanie Fleming, Secretary Alaina Clemence, and Treasurer Zoe Lackey. Congratulations to the 2018 National Honor Society inductees: Jared Albert '19, Lucy Baukhages '18, Adam Bizri '19, Lauren Bode '19, Parker Booth '19, James Corckran '19, Katherine Desrosiers '18, Delaney Dignam '19, Maeve Drury '19, Madeline Evans '19, Ronan Fanning '19, Nina Gumbs '18, Akira Holland '18, Megan Kuhns '19, Jonathan Levy '19, Liam Lonergan '19, Kara Mathews '19, Avery McMahon '18, Katarina Piera '18, Evan Rakshys '18, Patrick Riley '18, Joseph Sisle '19, Ford Smith '19, Alliana Snead '19, Megan Tempkin '19, Alexandra Walls '19, Paige Wells '19, Khalil Williams '19
