Eagles Shine in Historic Softball Debut

This spring marks an exciting new chapter for Indian Creek athletics, as the Eagles launched an inaugural varsity softball program and took the field for the first time in school history against Chapelgate Christian Academy on Monday.

The Eagles made an immediate impact at the plate, racking up 13 hits and showcasing aggressive base running with 10 stolen bases. Freshman Grace Robinson recorded the program’s first hit with a single in the opening at bat and quickly came around to score the first run, driven in by freshman pitcher and captain Chelsea Lester.

The offense stayed hot throughout the game with freshman Clara McKee and sophomore Sarah Ecker, who each contributing early RBIs and combined to bat an impressive .750. Sarah delivered one of the biggest moments of the day, blasting a three-run home run in the sixth inning and finishing with four RBIs.

On defense, the Eagles showed poise and teamwork, highlighted by a clutch double play from Clara and Sarah that shut down a Chapelgate rally. In the circle, Chelsea pitched a complete game and struck out eight, leading the team with confidence.

With multiple players tallying multi-hit games and stolen bases, the Eagles demonstrated depth, energy, and strong potential in their first outing. Coaches Evan Ash, Cortney Dávila, and Chris Care praised the team’s effort and sportsmanship. The Eagles aim to carry this momentum forward as the season continues. Go Creek!
