We ARE Artists! Pre-K through Grade 6 Showcase Talents for Friends and Family
Indian Creek’s Lower School wing was transformed into an interactive gallery experience during this year’s “We Are Artists” Family Art Night, welcoming students in grades PK–6 and their families to explore and celebrate their creative works on display.
Art from students in Kindergarten through sixth grade filled the hallways, classrooms, and cafeteria, showcasing a wide variety of creative projects, including a fifth grade display of decorated skateboards, first grade dragon illustrations, and 6th grade clay sculptures. Families got to participate in an art show scavenger hunt, searching for listed items throughout the exhibits and experiencing the artwork up close. A standout feature of the evening was the immersive glow room, where glow-in-the-dark sea life paintings, sculptures, and mobiles transformed the space into a mesmerizing underwater world.
In addition to viewing artwork, families participated in a variety of interactive stations. Students and guests enjoyed face painting by members of the Upper School National Art Honor Society (NAHS), a photo booth, and collaborative projects such as a bottle cap butterfly community piece and a cube mural. In the art room, participants also took part in a meaningful “art for healing” activity, creating paintings to be shared with children in pediatric hospitals.
The evening was a true celebration of student creativity and community spirit. Special thanks go to Lower and Middle School Fine Arts Teacher Allyson Saperstein for her leadership in organizing the event and showcasing the incredible work of Indian Creek’s young artists. Thank you as well to the many members of the Creek community, including parent and NAHS volunteers whose time and support made the night a success.
