Eagles Swimmers Culminate Successful Season with Outstanding Championship Performances
The Indian Creek Varsity swim teams delivered an exciting and successful championship meets, highlighted by historic performances from the girls and record-setting swims from the boys.
The Varsity Girls Swim team earned the best finish in program history, placing third overall in the IAAM, just six points behind second place, and out-scoring their project goal by over 40 points. Every swimmer scored for the team, all while posting personal-best times. Notably, this Championship meet culminated a dominant run for senior Lily Swope, who finished first in every race she competed in during her four-year high school career.
The IAAM Championship meet opened with a dominant 200 Medley Relay win from Lily Swope, Rory Varn, Sadie Rollins, and Grace Achatz. Strong individual performances followed, including Varn’s win in the 200 IM, a 1–2 finish in the 200 Free by Rollins and Elle Crowder, and multiple swimmers moving up several seeds with big time drops. Swope swept her events in the Championship meet, including four straight wins in both the 100 Fly and 100 Back. The girls closed the meet with a commanding victory in the 400 Free Relay.
Our Varsity Boys delivered an equally exciting performance, finishing 7th overall – spectacular placement for a team with just six swimmers competing. Every swimmer on the Boys team scored points and dropped time. Brecken Nicholes led the way with two second-place finishes and new school records in the 100 Fly (55.75) and 100 Free (52.79). Major time drops came from Justin Sonecha, Liam Mixter, Liam Foley, Henry Sosman, and Andrew, contributing key points throughout the meet. The boys ended the night with a highlight performance in the 400 Free Relay, as Foley, Sosman, Sonecha, and Nicholes broke the school record with a time of 3:58.51.
