The Creek Plunge team immersed themselves in the frigid Chesapeake Bay for the Cool Schools Polar Plunge, in support of the Maryland Special Olympics this week! The Eagles set school records for the highest number of participants (with 66 plungers) and also raised the greatest amount of donations in school history. With $14,725 in plunge pledges, plus over $600 more coming in from ICS nights at Chipotle and MOD Pizza, the team well-surpassed their goal, and will donate almost $16,000 to the Special Olympics!
Team captains, Anastasia Malamatis '24 and Andrew Kokoski '26, inspired classmates to take the plunge into the 39-degree bay on a 37-degree morning. Plunge participants reaped the benefits of cold-water swimming AND good deeds, as they gathered on the shore of Sandy Point State Park Thursday. ICS Plunge advisor Carol Mercer was proud of the students, sharing that the entire team had a great time and showed tons of school spirit. The ICS flag could be seen traveling the entire waterline, as Eagles team members high-fived each border guard.
Thank you to faculty plungers Anne Engles, Todd Kerr, Marcia Kokoski, Carol Mercer, and Allison Vaughn, for leading by example, and thank you to the entire Creek community for supporting the Creek plunge team.
