Arija Martin '22 Shadows on Capitol Hill

Indian Creek sophomore Arija Martin, who works as a Public Policy & Advocacy Intern, was recently invited to spend an incredible day shadowing, touring, interviewing Capitol Hill staffers. Arija had the opportunity to spend the day in the middle of the action on Capitol Hill, meeting several important politicians, including the Legislative Director and Clerk of the House Congressman William Lacy Clay, Director of Homeland Security, Foreign Affairs, Parliamentarians' Office, Small Businesses Subcommittee on Ways and Means Committee, and the first woman and African American Deputy Floor Director for Speaker Nancy Pelosi! Her day also included witnessing a session on The U.S. House of Representatives Floor, which aired on C-Span!
