ICS Specialty Camps: (Grades 4-6)

Adventures with Reading and Writing

July 3 - 7*
Third - Fourth Grades

Come join ICS teacher, Debbie Fowler, in the grand opportunity to advance your reading and writing performance through Reader’s Theater and Adventures in writing. Reder’s Theater is
a dramatic presentation of written work in script form. Readers will have the opportunity to read from scripts applying expressive voices and gestures making comprehending the text meaningful and fun for campers! Campers will take exciting adventures through the world of creative writing! Outdoor games such as soccer, basketball, kick ball, and flag football will be included during this camp experience. *No camp July 4

Creative Writing Camp

July 10 - 14
Fourth - Sixth Grades

Over the week, campers will work on the writing process including characters, plots and word choice. With guidance, students will develop characters, learn about plot arc, and practice writing in various genres. Campers will experience the editing cycle by workshopping their original pieces with peers and camp leaders. Campers will also learn the art of handmaking books in varied forms. At the end of the week, campers will have final pieces ready for publication and hand-made books to continue their writing journey. Channel your inner author in this fun camp!

Photography Camp

July 17 - 21
Fourth - Sixth Grades

At Photography Camp, campers will learn to use their digital cameras while exploring different types of photography ranging from portraits to landscapes and everything in between. We will play photography games in order to explore and improve the photography skills we are learning about. On the last day, parents will be invited to come and view printed works the campers will have on display. Campers should arrive with a digital camera (there will be back up cameras
available, but those will be in limited supplies). A camera on a smart phone counts as a digital camera, but hand held cameras and DSLR cameras will work too.

ICS Sustainability Camp

July 17 - 21
Fourth - Sixth Grades

Learn about sustainability and work on a real-world project to help make our area environmentally friendly. Learning, planning, and enacting a plan will all be part of camp. Campers will look at water, energy, and many other areas of interest as part of our week. Come work with sustainability experts Vince Franco, ICS teacher and sustainability enthusiast, and Diana Ortiz, ICS Facilities and Sustainability Director!

Disc Sports

July 24 - 28
Fourth - Sixth Grades

Come enjoy and learn about disc-related sports. Throughout
the week, campers will not only learn the techniques of how
to throw a disc, but will play related sports such as Ultimate
Frisbee, Disc Golf, and a number of other disc sports.
Campers will enjoy a fun week of activities and games with
ICS’s very own Vince Franco, that include field experiences
such as a trip to Kinder Park to play on their disc golf course.
