When Matt Bucci ’12 became an Indian Creek student in 1999, he would have been the last to imagine that he would one day be in front of the classroom, sharing his wisdom with the youth of today. However, as an alumnus of ICS, he could not picture a better place to begin his own career in education.
After graduating from Towson University with a Bachelor’s degree in English, Mr. Bucci returned to Indian Creek to help coach the Eagles Lacrosse team, while pursuing his Masters in Teaching writing at Johns Hopkins University. During this year of coaching Varsity Lacrosse, grades 7 & 8 Boys Basketball, and substitute teaching in all subject areas, Mr. Bucci has established a strong rapport with both students and faculty. He has become known as a teacher with high standards who knows how to connect with students in order to inspire their best.
Before coming to Indian Creek, Mr. Bucci served as a Sports Intern with WBAL TV 11 News, where he formatted nightly broadcasts, researching, writing, and editing news content. Outside of school, he writes a blog for Cha Vibes, LLC, a company founded on protecting the ocean. He also serves on the Advisory Board of “Giving Back, Linda’s Legacy,” a Baltimore organization which serves the homeless population of Baltimore.
Mr. Bucci is thrilled to officially join the Indian Creek faculty. “Growing up at Indian Creek has had a profound impact on my goals and values. As I have always held a high regard for my teachers over the years, I am incredibly humbled to finally call them colleagues and to continue being part of this amazing community in a teaching role. I will encourage and guide students both in the classroom and on the field and will help them to define their own success in whatever their ambitions may be.”
