Foundational Course

Math and Reading Skills & Strategies is a four-week, Foundational course that will provide your student a well-rounded experience.  Two weeks, led by ICS teacher Megan Silk, will be devoted to reinforcing and building key math skills. During this time, the class will hold virtual meetings for both group and individual instruction.   
Students will also have two weeks of instruction focused on comprehension skills and strategies when reading fiction and nonfiction texts. Led by Lower School Learning Specialist Beth Fromherz, they will participate in a daily comprehension "mini-lesson," as well as weekly guided reading groups featuring personalized texts.  
This course is designed for rising second through fourth grade students of ALL abilities, with plenty of opportunities for differentiation.  Avoid the dreaded “summer slump” - and have fun with us sharpening your academic skills!
