Confident, Energized, Inspired Leadership Displayed at Board Retreat

Saturday, January 12, was an inspiring day for Indian Creek School as the Board of Trustees held their annual retreat. This exciting day was planned and facilitated by Board Chair Lynne Sullivan, who led the Trustees and guests through a day of activities designed to bond the group together as a collaborative team, hone the leadership skills of each individual, explore ideas about future opportunities for ICS, and prepare for the exciting year ahead for our School. The 18 Board members, along with several school administrators, incoming Head of School Booth Kyle, and Executive Director of AIMS Peter Baily truly enjoyed this day filled with Indian Creek spirit.

Board Chair Lynne Sullivan opened the day by reminding the Board of the importance of their role. “We are all on this journey. We are all instrumental in where the school goes. Our decisions leave a legacy. 10 years from now, when I drive up to our unified campus I will feel good about the small role I have played in making this happen, and I hope you will too.” Peter Bailey, Executive Director of AIMS, agreed with Lynne’s sentiments, reminding the group that “the Board provides continuity and stability within transition.” The Trustees were thrilled to have both Head of School Rick Branson and incoming Head Booth Kyle join together in this day of collaborative planning. The group also enjoyed a moving presentation by Director of Equity and Inclusion Dr. Jeremy Beauregard.

The 2018-19 Board of Trustees is uniquely qualified to lead our School in a way that is truly rare to any organization. This is a Board that is deeply invested in Indian Creek. They provide steadfast leadership, enjoy this important work, enthusiastically collaborate together, generate excitement throughout our School community, and have made aspirational gifts to the “One Creek” capital campaign. This Board has not only reached a 100% philanthropic participation rate towards the campaign, but their combined pledge of nearly $1 million is leading the way to have the greatest impact to support the School’s vision than any other Board in ICS history. This Board has also inspired the faculty and staff to reach 100% participation, AND the senior Class of 2019 to participate at 100% as well. This dedication shown by this energized group of leaders continues to inspire the entire Indian Creek Community about the exciting future of our School.
