Coach Selmer Named Maryland State Association of Baseball Coaches Coach of the Year

Indian Creek School is proud to announce that Varsity Baseball Coach Matt Selmer has been named a Coach of the Year by the Maryland State Association of Baseball Coaches. Coach Selmer, who helped to start the Eagles Baseball program in 2016, led the team to the MIAA Championship title during their inaugural Varsity season last spring. Selmer was named Coach of the Year for Region 10, which represents schools in the Baltimore Area.

In addition to coaching the Eagles, Coach Selmer serves as Baseball Director for API Baseball. Previously to joining the Eagles, he served as Pitching Coach at Riverdale Baptist School. Throughout his career, he has coached three pitchers who went on to pitch in the University of Maryland Baseball program.

The Spring 2018 season was especially meaningful to Coach Selmer as he guided his team, which combined a talented young core, veteran leadership and a team-first mindset, to finish the season as champions. “Our goal this year was to win. We knew we could compete and we had an opportunity to win the championship,” said Selmer. “Getting there would have been an accomplishment this year, because most of our guys are young, but what I’m proud of them for is just responding well. All year they competed and constantly got better.” Congratulations to Coach Selmer!
