Ciaran Lesikar Hired as Varsity Girls Basketball Head Coach

Indian Creek School is proud to announce that Ciaran Lesikar has been hired as Head Coach of the Varsity Girls Basketball team. Coach Lesikar brings both experience and enthusiasm to the Eagles Athletics program.

A college athlete himself, Coach Lesikar was a starter on the Clarion University basketball team all four years he attended the school. After graduation, he taught high school for 15 years, and coached volleyball, basketball, and track for a total of 34 sports seasons. Most recently, he served for 10 years as the Varsity Girls Basketball Head Coach at Glenelg High School in Glenwood, Maryland. Coach Lesikar went 175-74 with the Gladiators, winning two State Championships and never experiencing a losing season during his decade as Head Coach. He was selected as "Coach of the Year" by several publications for six years during his time at Glenelg.

During the off-season, Coach Lesikar has conducted numerous coaching clinics for western Howard County and Cape St. Claire recreation basketball and has also run annual Basketball summer camps. Additionally, Coach Lesikar started the Cape St. Claire Track program and served as commissioner for several years. He recently served as the commissioner for the Cape St. Claire Basketball program as well. In his free time, Coach Lesikar enjoys spending time with his family, including his daughter Kaya who is a member of the ICS Class of '21.

"Indian Creek is very fortunate to have a coach the caliber of Coach Lesikar taking over the Girls Basketball program. Coach comes to us with a history of winning, an extensive knowledge of the game and a commitment to mentoring high school student athletes," shares Athletic Director Tyler Larkin. Coach Lesikar plans to bring an aggressive style of play that will be fun for the players as well as the fans. He will be joined on the sidelines by Assistant Coach Troy Evans, the Indian Creek Grades 1-8 Athletic Director, who has been a part of Eagles Athletics program for over 15 years.

Coach Lesikar is thrilled to lead the Varsity Girls - a powerful team with a history of success, appearing in the IAAM playoffs for the past five years, winning the IAAM Championship title in 2017, and playing in the semi-final game in 2018. "I am extremely excited to not only be getting back into coaching, but to be able to do it at Indian Creek," he shares. "I have high expectations for the girls and, from what I have heard, they are fully merited. My hope is to grow the program and establish a feeder system where we can be consistently successful. Most importantly, I want to be able to help enrich the girls experience - building character and fortitude that will pay dividends in the future."
