Maddy Evans '19 Named 2018 Capital Gazette Outstanding Student Achiever

The Capital Gazette announced their 2018 Outstanding Student Achievers this week. This esteemed list includes Indian Creek juniors Parker Booth, Maddy Evans, and Liam Lonergan. While the Awards Ceremony had to be postponed until April due to inclement weather, the Capital featured these students in this week's edition. Congratulations to Parker, Maddy, and Liam on this achievement!

Maddy Evans
Maddy Evans is a student who pushes herself both academically and athletically and shows leadership in everything she does.

Maddy challenges herself academically, maintaining a 4.09 GPA, and is a member of the National Honor Society and the Sociedad Honoraria Hispanicá. Her current class schedule includes AP Language and Composition, AP Biology, AP Psychology, and Precalculus. She also serves on the board for Key Club, works as an Admissions Ambassador, and is an active volunteer in her community.

Outside the classroom, Maddy is a strong force on the basketball court and the field hockey turf. She has been a starter on the varsity basketball team and field hockey team since her freshman year. She has been named to the IAAM 2nd All County Team and the All-Conference Team for basketball.

When she broke her foot and missed seven games, she was still a leader on the team, cheering on her teammates and providing direction. She was able to return for the rest of the season, and became the second leading scorer. Maddy was selected by her teammates to be captain of the field hockey team, and she received the Indian Creek School Most Improved Player and Most Outstanding Player in her last two seasons.

In all these activities, Maddy leads by example, displaying the qualities of effort, hard work and a positive attitude both inside and outside of the classroom.
