Upper School Art Students Learn from Local Artist Kim Hovell

Established local artist Kim Hovell spent the afternoon of Wednesday, February 21, working with Indian Creek Upper School Art students. Invited by senior Avery McMahon, Kim was able to share insight into her path from a career in graphic design and marketing to becoming a celebrated artist in the Annapolis area. Students were able to attend the discussion, and ask questions. Students asked for advice on ways to overcome obstacles in this creative field, discussed the importance of originality as an artist, and finding one's voice through art. Kim also demonstrated her unique style of painting for the students and everyone was able to collaboratively paint in that manner! Kim was thrilled to visit Indian Creek, as her husband Chris Hovell '98 is an alumnus. More information about Kim Hovell and samples of her artwork can be seen at http://kimhovell.com/. Thank you to local artist Kim Hovell for sharing her craft with Indian Creek students.
