Cayla Turner '18 Wins Regional Poetry Out Loud Competition - On to States!

Those in the Indian Creek community who have been lucky enough to hear senior Cayla Turner recite poetry during each winter's Poetry Out Loud competition often say that it seems like she was born to perform poems. Her passion, poise, and loyalty to each piece move her audience to deep emotion every time. The judges at the regional Poetry Out Loud Competition, held at the Annapolis Shakespeare Company, last Saturday, January 13, agreed. Cayla won first place at regionals, and is headed to the state competition in March. Congratulations to senior Cayla Turner who won first place at this afternoon’s regional Poetry Out Loud Competition, held at the Annapolis Shakespeare Company. Cayla performed incredible recitations of Robert Browning’s “Life in a Love,” Nikki Giovanni’s “The Song of the Feet,” and Kenneth Rexroth’s “Discrimination.” Cayla will go on to compete against the other top 8 performers in Maryland at the State Competition in Baltimore on March 10. Congratulations Cayla!
