Eagles Sailing Team Soars to New Heights!

The ICS Sailing team saved the best for last this fall as they took home a season-high finish of Second place in the MDISA J-Varsity Championships against the top 18 schools in Maryland. Going into the event, the Eagles were ranked ninth and were hoping to secure a top-10 finish in the winner-take-all regatta.

James Corckran ‘19 skippered the highly competitive A-division with crews Jack Woolls ’18 and Cal Morris-Berlin ’21. The highlight of the day came when James and Jack took a first and third in races 3-4. Together they finished Fourth in the A-division.

Will Dickinson ’22 skippered B-division with crews Ally Snead ’19 and Charlotte Dickinson ’21. Together they finished Third in B-Division with top-10 finishes in four out of five races.

This regatta is often times the best way to identify which young teams are going to be competitive in the coming years. Given the average age of this team and the level of improvement they’ve made this season, this is no doubt a sign of a promising future for the ICS Sailing team.
