Eagles Sailors Off to a Great Start!

Bryan Stout, Head Sailing Coach
The Indian Creek Sailing Team sailed their first regatta of the season taking home a 6th place finish in the 18-boat fleet this Sunday. The Sailing Center Chesapeake hosted the junior-varsity invitational regatta with sunny skies in light winds just off the Potomac River in Tall Timbers, MD. James Corckran ‘19 skippered his first event of the season with crew Will Morrissey ‘19. The duo was able to pull out a fifth place finish in the tightly-contested A-division.

In B-division Eagles were comprised of two skippers. Ally Snead ‘19 started in the first set with Will Dickinson ‘23 rotating into the boat with his sister Charlotte Dickinson ‘21 as his crew. The trio was able to pull off a couple top five finishes with a seventh place overall in their division.

The Eagles took home many lessons from the day of sailing and were pleased to finish in the top-half of the event. Doing well at the first event is always a good sign for the season. We will continue to keep the team’s learning-curve vertical for the coming months as the season moves forward.
