Creekers Find Success at County Fair

Indian Creek School (ICS) was well represented at the Anne Arundel County fair last week in both 4H and open competitions. The participants are thankful for the support of the ICS community of families and teachers who visited our students during fair week.  Much of the students' success is a direct result of ICS teachers, especially evident in the art categories.

Danielle Heffner ’20 showed 4H livestock with awards in every category and top prize of Best In Show for her goat Dakota. She also earned two Champion prizes for her art. Lizzie Chalkley ’23 earned two Champion ribbons, as well as second and third place prizes for her art.  Lizzie also took home two second place ribbons for showing her rabbit, and she did horse demonstrations all week for the public. Alex also won 4H Reserve Champion for showing her cow.

The Class of 2021 was well-represented as Olivia Boucher, Annie Chalkley, Annabelle Derrick, and Alex McCabe all took home a variety of prizes. Olivia earned a Champion ribbon for her still life painting. Annie earned two first places and a second place prize in photography, as well as a first and second place ribbon in art. Annabelle earned a second place prize for her culinary submission.

Lower School students were well-represented as well. Sixth grade student Phillip Derrick earned Best in Show for his cookies, while third grade student Trevor Fielding earned two Best in Show and a Reserve Champion in the Youth Art category. (Check out Trevor’s award-winning Eagle painting, hanging in the Evergreen Campus lobby!)  Treve Darby ’27, Isaac Waesche ’28, and Brie Darby ’28 participated at the fair with the 4H Clovers. Congratulations to all of the Creekers who found great success at the County Fair!
