Will Mercer '22 Makes ICS Lacrosse History

The Varsity Boys Lacrosse Senior Night Game on Tuesday, May 10, was especially meaningful for senior Will Mercer. Not only did the Eagles 21-9 win over Annapolis Area Christian School end the Class of 2022 athletes' final regular season, this game heralded a new high-goal record in Indian Creek Varsity Boys Lacrosse history.

Will's third (of six) goal of the game broke the all time school record for goal total of 171 over his career.  This record is especially impressive, as Will and the other members of the Class of 2022 missed an entire season of play due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The record he broke was previously held by alum and current ICS coach Ryan Baukhages '14. Following the Eagles' win, Coach Baukhages presented Will with the game ball as his teammates and family cheered him on.

Indian Creek Athletic Director and former Varsity Boys Lacrosse Coach Jason Werner was on-hand to witness the baton passed between his two former players. "Its has been great to see Will grow under the coaching of Ryan Baukhages. Both will have certainly left their mark on ICS lacrosse as truly great players."

With the previous record broken, Will continues to set new goal records each time he scores.  He has continued to add to this total in the Eagles' Quarterfinal and Semifinal games this week. Will and his teammates look forward to setting a high bar for future players in his final game tomorrow at the MIAA B-Conference Championship match at Navy Stadium.

Congratulations to Will, and Go Eagles!
