Student Spotlight: Maisie White '25

Maisie joined the ICS community, and the class of ’25, in the fall of 2021.  She is an accomplished athlete and student whose favorite subjects include Algebra and Spanish and her favorite sport is soccer.  She is also a founding member of the student newspaper and a member of multiple clubs.

“My favorite thing about ICS is how much every single student is seen and looked after. Everyone receives the help they need, and the school provides resources for everyone, no matter what it is. My last school put me in a weird math placement and Ms. McLaren and the teachers at ICS were amazing in helping me find a way to continue my math course trajectory after transitioning to ICS. The community is amazing, and everyone cares so deeply about the well-being of the people around them.”

Maisie plays soccer for ICS and Maryland United. She is on the ECNL team which stands for Elite Competition National League and practices three times a week and have multiple games, a tournament, or a showcase every weekend.  One of her “biggest personal achievements” at ICS was winning an All-Conference award while playing varsity soccer as a freshman.

She says her fondest memory of ICS (so far!) was her first soccer game of the ICS season. were they lost by at least 6 goals but in the last 5 minutes she scored a goal and the whole team went crazy, and everyone started hugging. She said, "It felt like we had just won the game and I felt happier than I think I ever have.”

In the future, Maisie says she is “looking forward to paving a life for myself and really figuring out who I am. I want to go to college or university, and I am excited to experience everything life has to offer.”
