ICS Addition and Renovation Earns Excellence in Construction Award

Indian Creek School congratulates Southway Builders, Inc. for earning the Associated Builders and Contractors (ABC) of Greater Baltimore’s Excellence in Construction award for their work on the ICS building addition and renovation project.

The ABC Excellence in Construction program is an annual award that recognizes outstanding works of contractors in the greater Baltimore area. Each year, the organization honors the top-tier projects, based on unique characteristics and quality of craftsmanship. Applications are judged by impartial members of the construction industry, including engineers and architects.

The Indian Creek addition and renovation project, which earned the Excellence award (the highest honor in the program), was a major undertaking, with the goal of bringing the school community together and provide state-of-the-art learning and community spaces for all students. The project broke ground in March 2021 and finished in August, on time to welcome students to the 2021-22 school year. The renovation added 12,000 sq. ft. of academic and gathering space, including a state-of-the-art Academic Resource Center, a new Lower School Library, an expansion to the cafeteria, and two new playgrounds, as well as newly designed classrooms, offices, an upgrade to the School's auditorium, and revitalization to the entire building.

“We love our School and the design, construction, and renovation processes provided by Southway reflected the love and the pride we have in ICS,” shared Indian Creek’s Head of School Booth Kyle. “I hope this recognition is a reminder of a job well done and a sign of our deep appreciation your work has had on our School.”

Matt Potter, Project Executive at Southway, notified ICS of the award earlier this month. “Thank you to everyone involved. This was a fast-paced project with internal and external challenges, but we all worked together as a team and the end result was a great building for the staff and students. We were proud to be a part of this project.”

Congratulations to Southway Builders, and everyone involved in this project - in particular Southway Vice President John Diehl, Superintendent Sean Brown, Assistant Superintendent Justin Loughlin, and Project Executive Matt Potter, as well as Architect David Settle from Aurora Architecture, Owners Rep Bob Proutt from Proutt Consulting, LLC, and the ICS Board of Trustees for this well-deserved honor.

The annual EIC Awards Ceremony will be held on April 26. More information about the award can be found at: https://www.abcbaltimore.org/2022-excellence-in-construction-award-winners/?mc_cid=fd02952057&mc_eid=6cf71aeac9
