Head of School Booth Kyle Serves on Enrollment Management Association's Anti-Bias Symposium Panel
This morning, Head of Indian Creek School Booth Kyle had the honor of participating in the Enrollment Management Association (EMA)'s Anti-Bias Symposium: Continuing the Conversation. This symposium, created to help independent school leaders create more equity in the admission process, focused on helping administrators across the United States embrace their understanding of biases that are pervasive in the world of independent schools, consider current admission practices, and learn about tangible, actionable strategies that can be implemented.
Mr. Kyle served as a Panelist for a discussion on the Structured Interview Process, along with Nathan Kuncel, Marvin D. Dunnette Distinguished Professor of Industrial-Organizational Psychology/McKnight Presidential Fellow, University of Minnesota and Laurel Baker Tew, Assistant Head of School for Enrollment, Viewpoint School in California. For this discussion, Mr. Kyle shared his experiences in implementing procedures that reduced bias in interviewing and admissions application evaluation. He offered to the audience that enrollment professionals can truly impact equity work in schools by setting up application processes that are fair and balanced. The way to do it is by designing applications that incorporate multiple perspectives across multiple domains.
This event was a valuable opportunity for independent school leaders to focus on the enrollment facet of this important DEI work.
